Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo formed an indie rock band called Darlin’ in 1992, which disbanded after a critic described their sound as “a daft punky thrash,” a phrase that inspired the name of their next project, Daft Punk, formed in 1993.
